Our guest speaker today was Lloyd Early from the Ohio Attorney General’s office. Lloyd is the Medicaid Special Agent-in-Charge for Ohio. Medicaid is a vital program that provides health care benefits to low-income and medically fragile Ohioans of all ages. In the past 5 years, the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit has investigated nearly 3,200 complaints of Medicaid Fraud and patient abuse and neglect. Of these complaints, there were 553 criminal indictments, 475 criminal convictions, 133 civil settlements and have been able to recover $279.9 million dollars.

Chris Rider was the guest speaker today. Chris is the coach of the Varsity boys basketball team at Logan High School. Last year the Chieftains had a 20 win season and was ranked 9th in the State. Chris was thankful about how the community rallied behind the team and the hard work and dedication of the players. This kids also posted the third highest GPA with 3.91 combined among the team earning them the Athletic Academic Award. Nanette Swinehart, executive director of Brighten Your Future, spoke to the Logan Rotary Club regarding the history and success of BYF. For the 2018-2019 school year, 49 students received $1800 grants, and two students received partial awards! Funds are raised by donations and interest from the BYF scholarship fund. Grants are based upon financial need from the student's FASFA report. The Logan Rotary Club is proud to be an annual sponsor of BYF.

Shawn Fraunfelter spoke to the Logan Rotary Club today regarding Out of the Boat Ministry and the organization's focus. What started as a small group of men for bible study, has evolved into a group that takes the message of God with them as they assist local neighbors and youth when called upon. Most recently they became heavily involved in helping the recent flood victims. "The floods came on Thursday, we met on Saturday and decided we needed to help. All we did was show up." Shawn stated.
