4/5 Rotary Newsletter
Sent: April 7, 2010
What a beautiful spring day for all of us to gather for some fun and food! We were joined by Christy Kuhner, the Marketing Director for the Atomic Credit Unions. Nice to have you with us!
PRAYER
Well, it appears the curse has been broken! McGreevy managed to get through the prayer without any mishaps -- but, then again, Steve Stirn wasn't here! Maybe it IS his fault!
LOTTERY
Lottery master Doug Wells was "in the house" today (Nice to have you back -- you've been away too long!). Small pot of $13 went to chronically late John Smith, but he couldn't find the winning card for the BIG POT of $197. Next week - OVER $200!
SGT AT ARMS
The bucks were flying as Larry Kienzle went to work. Late fines to John, Bob Lilley and Andy McGhee; lottery fine to John Smith; Geoff Grimes paid a buck because his guest did not pull Larry's ticket for the lottery; Dick Brandt paid for wife, Connie, being on the front page of the paper; Van paid $1 for something having to do with passing cold germs back and forth with Susan Aldridge.
Happy Bucks: April birthdays were paid for by John Smith, Bob Lilley, Val Junge, Damon Kuhn and Andy McGhee; Doug Wells paid $2 to announce that his wife has finished grad school AND got a clean bill of health from her cardiologist; Dick Brandt paid another dollar in honor of a great week-long visit with his son Doug and family; Kathy donated a dollar because her grandson as happy to get one from his Grandpa Mike -- he actually thought it was a BIG DEAL!; Jon Mesarch announced his parent's 68th anniversary; John Smith paid a buck to promote the Bobcat Caravan appearing at The Brass Ring from 6 to 8 pm on April 22!; Jim Robinson pitched in for the LHS track team winning the Newark meet and both of his son's placing well - in both LHS competition and college competition; Damon also paid to thank all the Rotarians that came out to help and support the Family Fishing Day project.

TODAY'S PROGRAM
Today was Club Assembly Day. President Dave reviewed our YTD activities and accomplishments.
Joe gave us a Treasurers report -- nice to note that our total assets have exceeded $50,000 for the first time he can remember! We do have expenses coming up, however -- our usual contributions of $1500 each to the HVCH Foundation Golf Tournament and Brighten Your Future, as well as the LHS scholarships that are given out.
Our project income from 4/1/09 to 3/31/10 is $8173. That includes the Pancake Feast, Shrimp Dinner, Fair Gates, Brown Bag Auction and Bike Project.
Our Expenses totaling $4710 include donations to help send LHS student to study at Oxford last summer, sending one LHS student to the Business Week project, Family Fishing Day, Sponsoring the Middle School Back to School Bash with the Health Department, sponsoring Newspapers in Education, dictionary donations to all 3rd graders, sponsoring a youth baseball team and $2500 in scholarships.
Our donations so far this year to Community Action and the Smith Chapel Food Bank are $800 plus hundreds of volunteer hours from the own "Posse". We have also made a contribution of $150 to the Logan-Hocking Chamber and the Hospice 5K Run/Walk sponsorship.
NEW PROJECT
Because of our expertise with Pancakes, we were selected to assist "The Pancake Man" who follows the GOBA Bike people on their trip. He has all the equipment, and does all the cooking. We just need to show up to help him unload at around 4am on Sunday, June 20 at the Fairgrounds. Then we will serve and clean up. We get paid a portion of every ticket sold! This could be a major source of revenue for us this year. Mark your calendars and prepare to put in about 5 hours of labor to make BIG MONEY!
